work is underway on memorial garden to commemorate those who worked and lost their lives at Yorkshire Main Colliery.

Chair of the Yorkshire Main Commemorative Trust, Frank Arrowsmith said: “This garden and the Yorkshire Main memorial wall have been a two and a half year Labour of love. The Doncaster neighbourhood team have been really helpful from day one. The community have been very supportive and we’re very grateful for the help from Caroline, the local councillors and the town council.”

Don Valley MP, Caroline Flint joined members of the Yorkshire Main Commemorative Trust this week to see the start of work on their Memorial Garden.

Said Caroline: “The whole project should be ready to open in Spring 2013. I believe the Edlington community will take this place to their hearts. The work of the commemorative trust reminds us that we should never forget the history of our mining communities.” The Trust is raising over £30,000 to complete the work to donate visit http://yorkshiremaincommemorativetrust.webs.com
