A SWEET treat was the icing on the cake for Hilda Thorneycroft to help celebrate her remarkable 104th birthday.

The former sweet maker’s incredible milestone was shared with family and friends at Headingley Park Care Home in Edlington, where Hilda is a resident.

A party was held for the mum-of-one, grandmother-of-two and great grandmother who has lived in Maltby and Warmsworth in her incredible life.

Son Keith Thorneycroft, 80, of Gifford Drive, Warmsworth, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement and she really enjoyed the day. We’d like to thank the staff at Headingley Park for making it a wonderful event, they work so hard.”
