Hero Ben pays visit to old school
Ben Parkinson paid a visit to Bessacarr Primary School recently, having attended the school himself when he was a child.
WAR hero Ben Parkinson has paid a visit to pupils at Bessacarr primary school.
The former soldier spoke to pupils during two special assemblies about his experience carrying the Olympic torch and even gave the youngsters a chance to have a look at it, as well as his selection of medals.
Headteacher Sarah Davies, said: “The children were thrilled because he used to come to our school.
“Ben talked about carrying the Olympic torch as well as his time in the army.
“He brought his torch and his medals to show the children.
“It was both a moving and funny experience for us all.”
Because of the links between the school and Ben, the School Council have decided to adopt his charity as their chosen good cause to support for the year.
In a bid to raise money one of the teaching assistants has decided to take part in a sponsored weight loss.
