Health service goes more hi-tech
A HEALTH, advice and counselling service for young people has gone more hi-tech.
Jigsaw, a service for young people aged 11 to 19, providing them with free confidential advice, on any issue which affects young people’s health and well-being can now be contacted via Facebook as well as mobile phones and email.
Topics the staff can talk to young people about include sexual health advice, healthy eating and cooking on a budget, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing, stopping smoking, substance misuse and risk taking behaviour – which covers areas such as smoking, alcohol and dangerous driving.
Jigsaw staff also work with schools, youth clubs and training agencies.
Fiona Feris, deputy manager at Jigsaw, said: “Our sessions are designed to be interactive and educational while remaining informal and can be tailor made for specific targeted groups. We have many resources which help make our sessions fun while encouraging learning.”
Young people wanting to contact Jigsaw can contact Fiona at Fiona.feris@rdash.nhs.uk or 07786198675, or Lindsay by emailing Lindsay.taylor@rdash.nhs.uk or 07917031899. The team can be found on Facebook at Jigsaw Doncaster.
