GREEN campaigners have announced a debate on green energy will be staged in Doncaster this week.

The event on Friday, March 8, called Energy We Can All Afford, is being organised by Doncaster Friends of the  Earth and hosted by Doncaster Central Development Trust. It comes as MPs debate the Energy Bill in Parliament.

Caroline Flint, MP for Don Valley and Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, will also be there.

Keith Whittaker from Friends of the Earth Doncaster and District said he wanted the Government to switch to energy from the sun, waves and wind.

The meeting will be at 7.30pm at the Church View Centre, Church View, Doncaster, DN1 1AF, and be chaired by John Giddins, chairman of Doncaster Central Trust Community Interest Company.
