Digging up treasure

STUDENTS are getting the chance to meet and work with archeologists as part of a £200,000 project.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded the Workers’ Educational Association the money for groups of adults with learning and physical disabilities, mental health service users and members of minority ethnic communities, who have not traditionally been involved with archaeology, to explore the region’s heritage.

Participants will take part in fieldwork, visit museums and contribute to an exhibition to be displayed in centres across the region at the project’s conclusion.
