CARING kids at the Dearne ALC have raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
A Macmillan coffee morning at the school raised £392.65 towards providing services for cancer sufferers and their families. and this month, pupils are raising cash for Help the Heroes and Operation Shoebox.
A school spokesman said: “We chose Operation Shoebox and Help For Heroes as many of our ex-pupils are currently serving in the Armed Forces overseas. The aim is to fill as many shoeboxes as possible with items that the soldiers have requested.”
A non-uniform day on October 5, raised more than £500. Pupils hope to fill 30-plus shoeboxes for soldiers and present them to a volunteer from Operation Shoebox soon, to ensure that they reach the forces personnel in time for Christmas.
