Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust is launching its own calendar for 2008 - and want you to help make it happen.

The charity are looking to tap into the town's artistic talent by inviting novice, amateur or professional photographers to submit impressions of picturesque Doncaster.

So why don't you give it a shot? Get your work published - and at the same tim
e help the town's longest running cancer charity edge closer to their £250,000 target.

The competition is also open to painters and artists as organisers go in search of lively pictures that best capture the borough's landmarks.
Work is scheduled to be commissioned later this year.

Submit a picture by calling into the Trust on 4 East Laith Gate or by emailing it to paul.goodwin@doncastertoday.co.uk.

The closing date for entries, which will be judged by a panel of experts including Free Press head of photography Malcolm Billingham, is Tuesday 31 July.

For more information contact the Trust on (01302) 349177.

l The Old Castle pub in the market place host a fundraising afternoon this Sunday between 3pm and 7pm.

Brave volunteers will take part in a sponsored head shave and chest wax, while plenty of fantastic food, drink and pampering prizes are up for grabs in the raffle.

* Donations to the appeal can be made by visiting the Trust at 4 East Laith Gate with cheques made payable to Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust.

Funds may also be paid directly into the campaign account: Co-operative Bank, account number 50326679. Anyone organising a fundraising event should contact the Free Press for publicity on (01302) 347260.
