LAKESIDE Village shopping outlet has raised a staggering £31,512 for sick children - smashing its fundraising target by more than £6,000.
The outlet adopted the Bluebwell Wood Children's Hospice as its nominated charity in May 2006 and by December last year had smashed its £25,000 total.

Generous shoppers and staff at the centre have taken part in a number of fundraising events including a parachute jump, a Santa Dash, fancy dress competitions and have even been locked up in a working prison for the day!

All year round the centre has hosted amnesties for shoppers to bring in unwanted toys, books, videos, CDs and clothes and "bag it for Bluebell".

Wrangler and Lee were this year's Fundraising Store of the Year with staff raising £1,046.21 for Bluebell Wood.

Centre manager Cheryl Sadler said: "We at Lakeside Village are delighted to surpass our original target of £25,000 in 2007. We have raised a spectacular amount for our dedicated charity, Bluebell Wood, and as a result we would like to pledge our support once again to the charity in 2008 when we hope to raise a rolling target of £50,000 through more fun, creative and spectacular events!"
