Youngsters raise money for CCTV at play area
A GROUP of youngsters joined forces with the fire service for a charity car wash to try and raise money for CCTV cameras to be installed on a play area.
Six girls, aged 13 and 14, are trying to raise £1000 for security cameras to be placed on the play area at Knollbeck Lane in Brampton following a number of attacks by vandals.
A charity car wash at Brampton Fire Station last Sunday raised £115 towards the project.
Brampton firefighter Nick Abbott, who helped organise the event, said: "The play area is right next to the station so we are very happy to help out. Events such as this also give us the chance to get our faces known in the community and offer people fire safety advice.
"They are planning to hold another one in the near future to help them reach their target. I want to say thank you to everyone who took part and gave money on the day."
