MOVE over, Harry Potter - Dearne High School students are aiming to top the bestseller charts with their own book of fantasy fiction.
The book, called Out of the Shadows, has just been published and will be officially launched today at Waterstone's in Doncaster.

The idea came about when the school invited best selling author Graham Taylor to speak to youngsters about the art of writing. Writing as GP Taylor, Graham is the author of the best-selling novels Shadowmancer and Wormwood.

Teacher Joan Townend said: "The pupils were really inspired to write their own short stories, which were so good they were accepted for publication. We are very proud of them."

During a recent literary week the pupils were also visited by Richard McCann, the son of Yorkshire Ripper murder victim Wilma McCann and author of the memoir Just A Boy.

The book is an anthology of 37 stories, each by a different young author. Since its publication by Grosvenor House at the end of August, the collection has sold more than 600 copies.

It carries a foreword by GP Taylor and an endorsement from famous former pupil Brian Blessed.

Out of the Shadows is available to buy now from Waterstone's bookshops and a wide range of online booksellers including amazon.co.uk.
