Missing gift
A CONCERNED lady visited the Times office to appeal for information about the whereabouts of an expensive piano stool that she donated to a care home where he mother lived.
The stool in question was donated to the Swallow Wood Christian Nursing Home on Wath Road, Mexborough, when the lady's mother first moved in.

During a clear out at the home some time ago the stool and piano were taken away but no current member of
staff has any idea where it was taken to or by whom.

Brigade honours
TWO MEMBERS of the Brierley Boys Brigade have received the highest award in the fellowship.

James Addey, of Grimethorpe, and Callum Yardley, of Hemsworth, were awarded the Queen's Badge at a ceremony in York.

The two 17-year-olds completed 120 hours of voluntary work in the brigade, Methodist church, the community and of their own interest.

They helped out with company events, tidying the church and chose skiing and other sports as their personal choice work.

Cricket training
CRICKET training sessions for youngsters are being held in Mexborough at the start of the summer holidays.

Enjoy Cricket in 2008, run by the Yorkshire County Charitable Youth Trust, is open to boys and girls at Mexborough CC ground from July 21-23.

The sessions will offer an oportunity for those who are not themselves a member of a school cricket team and who have limited opportunities to take part in practical games.
