THIEVES have stolen a number of large flagstones from outside St Thomas' Church in Kilnhurst.
There were 16 flagstones and a number of border stones taken during an overnight raid on Sunday (August 24).

The missing stones, worth hundreds of pounds, led up to the church entrance and had been there since St Thomas' opened nearly 150 years ago.

Church treasurer Jean Hirst said: "It is very dissapointing because they have been there right from when the church opened and are expensive.

"The gentleman who lives in the old Vicarage noticed the stones were gone and there were also tyre marks on the church grounds so a car or van had pulled up there as well."

Anyone with information about the incident can contact South Yorkshire Police on 01142 202020.
