THE PARENTS of a teenager who collapsed in Swinton after biting into a chocolate bar, triggering a severe peanut allergy, want to personally thank two men who helped their son as he lay dying.
16-year-old Dexter Skinner, a student of Maltby Comprehensive, fell to the floor near the Co-op supermarket on the morning of Monday June 30.
Two men rushed to help and gave Dexter emergency first aid before the ambulance arrived at around 8.45am. He was rushed to Rotherham General Hospital suffering from anaphylactic shock.
The youngster spent 48 hours in intensive care and died with family members by his side.
It is not known why Dexter ate the fatal chocolate bar as he was familiar with the foods which triggered his allergy.
Maltby Comprehensive, working with Dexter's family, have now set up a tribute page for him on the school website where he has been described as "an amazing lad" and a "quiet, polite young man."
Dexter's parents have appealed for the two men who helped their son to come forward and contact them so they can thank them personally.
A family spokesperson said: "If anyone knows these people, Dexter's parents would like to pass on their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to those who helped that morning and enabled him to be transported to hospital for further medical attention."
